Spreading love and cheer with personal notes

A love letter, a written expression of feelings of love, is very personal because you pour your heart out in it.

With Julie’s What’s Your Love Letter? campaign, you’re encouraged to pen your thoughts. The local biscuit manufacturer also wants you to “spread your joy; share your love” by sending your messages to your loved ones!

Julie’s, one of the top three biscuit brands in Malaysia, first kicked off this campaign in 2015. It was warmly received by the public. The aim of the campaign is to encourage the public to write down their feelings and turn touching moments into an eternal memory.

Over the years, the campaign has been done in different ways – through ang pow packets (with a piece of paper to share your well wishes), love cards and love invites.

In celebration of this year’s Chinese New Year, Julie’s is giving a special fudai (fortune pouch) in its 700g tin of love letters. The cloth pouch comes in three colours. In this pouch, there is a “Love Note” to pen your messages or thank you notes and send them to your friends and loved ones.

Rigel Oye, Julie’s general manager marketing, said: “The word, fu (blessings) is significant to the Chinese. Julie’s is giving you blessings of fortune (via its fortune pouch and gift of love letters) and urging you to take them home and share with friends and family!”

Oye said: “Sometimes, giving is not about money but showing that you care. When you express your heartfelt feelings, others can feel the love and warmth. That’s more valuable!”

Julie’s love letters (or egg rolls), she said, are “modern kuih kapit (Malay for love letters)”. Unlike the traditional (triangular) love letters, Julie’s love letters come in three flavours, of which the chocolate ones are the most popular.

The brand’s biscuits are prepared in hygienic conditions and under stringent control. Employees work in an environment with positive energy. The company ensures that production staff have proper meals and living quarters.

“When they’re happy, they will put their love in their work,” Oye said.

At the recent launch of Julie’s What’s Your Love Letter? 2018 Chinese New Year campaign at Sunway Velocity Mall in Kuala Lumpur, Julie’s Malaysia senior national sales manager Dennis Swee Jing Wei said the brand is continuing its annual tradition of encouraging everyone to pen their heartfelt messages.

He urged people to send their love and care through these “Love Letters” and help to raise the spirits of those in need.

This year’s campaign is also encouraging everyone to send their blessings to strangers and together make the world a better place.

“Julie’s has begun its road shows and CNY promotions (Jan 19 to 21, Jan 26 to 28, and Feb 2 to 4) at 35 shopping malls in Selangor, Penang, Ipoh, Johor, Kedah, Pahang and Melaka. In its latest campaign, there is also a Scribble Your Love and Win a 24k gold fortune pouch charm bracelet,” said Lim Bee Bee, Julie’s media relations manager.

This year, Julie’s What’s Your Love Letter? contest runs from Jan 8 to Feb 11. Purchase two tins of 700g Julie’s Love Letters and write down your love message in not more than 20 words on the Love Note. Fill in your personal details, attach the receipt from your purchase and drop your contest form into the giant Julie’s Fudai at Julie’s promotional booth or post it to Julie’s mailbox.

The top 50 most touching messages will stand a chance to win a 24k gold fortune pouch charm bracelet. Each week, 10 lucky winners will be selected.
